Nuovo Testamento - Love Lines

I'm not an expert on 80s synth pop. Not even close. I certainly like a lot of what I've heard, but I've never set the time to go through much of it.
Nuovo Testamento isn't that, but they sure do sound exactly like it.

I've only listened to a little bit of Depeche Mode, but the influence from them is felt across this entire release, and this has certainly sparked my interest in further exploring that.
It's impressive how much this manages to sound almost exactly like so much I have heard from that era, right down to the production quality, not just the instrumentals. I was grabbed right from the first note I heard. I'd love to know their recording process.

"Wildlife" is a great opener that absolutely sets the mood of the album, so if that grabs you, you're likely to love the entire thing. The follow up song "Heartbeat" does something to my brain, and I'm unable to listen to it without dancing at least a little. It has such a positive, infectious energy.

The next two songs I think are my favorite of the album. "Heat" is exactly what I'd expect or want out of synth pop as I know it. An energetic dance song about a relationship and wanting to reignite the spark (heh). The instrumentals somehow both sounding upbeat yet somber at the same time. I'm absolutely in love with the drum tone and synth here.

It's the follow up that I want to point out the most though, "Get Closer." This was the song that pulled me into listening to this album, and I think it's easily the most catchy here. Chelsey's voice here is absolutely impossible to tune out, not that you'd want to. The music is incredibly dancy and positive. It all combines to create an incredibly flirtatious energy that absolutely takes over. Listening to this on repeat was sort of what was holding me on from falling apart during a bad day.

I won't really drag this on much, because it's going to more or less be me repeating the word "dancy," but I think if you have even a passing interest in synth pop like myself, you should most certainly listen to this. It's extremely fun, even in the few moments where it's a little sad.
